As a Staff Mechanical Robotics Engineer in our Mako and Enabling Technologies (MET) Research & Development team, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional experts to design, prototype, and deliver innovative robotic solutions that transform patient care. This is a hybrid position based in Portage, MI; candidates must live within commuting distance and be onsite 3-4 days per week.

What You Will Do
- Design, develop, and verify components and subsystems for medical devices with minimal supervision.
- Translate user needs into design specifications and deliver system-level solutions.
- Lead prototyping and testing efforts to validate design performance.
- Identify and resolve complex design issues using data-driven analysis to improve processes and outcomes.
- Apply clinical knowledge to author design inputs and support Voice of Customer sessions.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and mentor others in design control practices.
- Create and maintain engineering documentation, including Design History Files.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to drive projects from concept through launch.
What You Will Need
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Robotics, Mechanical, Biomedical, or related field).
- Minimum four years of relevant engineering experience.
- Experience designing mechanical or electro-mechanical assemblies.
- Proficiency in engineering drawing creation and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in product design focused in robotics engineering
- Experience with Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) tools and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles.
- Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with risk management and quality systems in a regulated environment
