The Space Sector of Moog’s Space and Defense Group (SDG) designs and manufactures systems to survive the harsh environments of space travel. Our team in the Space Sector’s Actuation and Avionics Business Unit is looking for a Staff Manager, Electrical Design Engineering to lead a multi-functional team of Electrical, EEE Component, FPGA, and Packaging design engineers for NASA, military, and commercial space applications.  You will report to the Staff Design Engineering Manager with your own team of approximately 20 engineers, including 10 direct reports and 2 section managers. 

As a Staff Manager, Electrical Design Engineering, you will:

  • Lead and mentor a dynamic team of ~20 engineers, fostering growth and collaboration
  • Provide personal development for direct reports by conducting performance reviews, training, mentoring, and monitoring career development
  • Assign programs and projects to direct reports in a timely manner and monitor these tasks so they are completed within technical, cost, and schedule constraints
  • Champion continuous improvement in the design and development processes
  • Coordinate with design leadership to align project goals and share best practices across teams
  • Maintain key performance indicators and metrics
  • Provide expert technical guidance and support to your team
  • Select and equip your team with the best tools and technology to excel
  • Foster design reviews, validating adherence to internal standards

To be considered for the Staff Manager, Electrical Design Engineering, here’s what you’ll typically need to bring with you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 7 years of technical experience, designing and developing circuit cards, electronic enclosures, or working with FPGAs.
  • 10+ years of relevant technical experience preferred.
  • Must have the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance. Currently holding a clearance is preferred.
  • Proven track record managing and leading engineering teams to success
  • Self-motivated, with strong critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Proficient communication skills, both in writing technical documentation and in public speaking presentations
  • Ability to work onsite in Elma, NY (remote candidates will not be considered)

Salary Range Transparency:

Buffalo, NY $140,000.00–$165,000.00 Annually

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
