Broadcom’s Mainframe Software Division (MSD) is looking for an excellent software engineer with a passion for building high quality applications using agile practices to join our development team.

Mainframe systems are at the heart of the digital economy, with 80% of the world’s structured corporate data residing or originating on mainframes, and 55% of all enterprise applications hitting the mainframe to complete transactions. Our industry-leading products are critical to many Fortune 1000 companies.

We are adding to our team and looking for exceptional candidates with strengths in z/OS and infrastructure software.

This position is responsible for creating, testing, ensuring the quality of and maintaining a z/OS based mainframe product or product line. The Staff Mainframe Developer will perform new feature development, complex code modification, testing, and debugging tasks, as well as provide high level analysis related to software design and development. The person in this role is expected to act as a technical lead within a small team, advising, mentoring and coaching more junior developers and partnering with stakeholders such as Product Owners, Solution Architects etc.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively within an Agile Team to analyze and translate business requirements and write high quality, testable code that meets the Definition of Done.

  • Adopt a test-first approach to software development in which, where possible, the test is developed before the code.

  • Participate in design and code reviews with other engineers.

  • Create automated unit, system, and acceptance tests.

  • Contribute to team retrospectives; help to identify and resolve team impediments.

  • Actively communicate and collaborate within the team and across functional boundaries.

  • Improve the overall skill level of the team by mentoring / teaching / coaching.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or global equivalent in a related field.

  • Typically, 2 or more years of experience in mainframe software development or a related field.

  • SDLC and Agile principles and methodologies.

  • Experience in IBM z/OS internals and IBM HLASM programming language required -or- embedded systems with low level. (hardware/OS) C/C++ programming.

Other Desired Experience

  • Python, Rexx, JAVA, Javascript, Typescript, Spring Boot, HTML, CSS, REST, Web Services, WebSockets, API development.

  • Experience working on or with Automation tools.

  • Familiar with QA and DevOps concepts and practices such as test automation, CI/CD etc.

  • Experience in the following areas is a plus: Angular, Node.js, PostgreSQL, Jenkins, Gradle, npm, Artifactory, Cypress.

Additional Job Description:

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $73,000  - $117,000

This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
