We’re hiring a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to join our core ML team. This is a high-impact, individual contributor role focused on building ML systems that operate at massive scale and directly influence business outcomes. You’ll work closely with infrastructure and product teams to develop production-grade recommender systems, predictive models, and ranking algorithms that serve hundreds of millions of users.
This role is ideal for deeply technical engineers with experience building large-scale ML systems at top-tier tech companies. You’re someone who values system design, measurable impact, and technical rigor over managing people or expanding headcount.
What You’ll Do- Design and deploy ML systems for recommendation, prediction, ranking, and optimization (e.g., clicks, conversions, user satisfaction)
- Build and operate models and infrastructure that support hundreds of millions of requests per day
- Apply systematic, reproducible approaches to model training, evaluation, and inference at scale
- Collaborate with the Machine Learning Infrastructure (MLI) team to define system requirements and improve developer tooling and workflows
- Lead or contribute to architectural design, technical reviews, and standardization of ML practices across the org
- Mentor and support engineers across ML teams as a senior technical expert
- Help evolve the ML interview process to better identify high-caliber candidates without compromising our technical bar
- Extensive experience building and operating ML systems in high-scale environments
- Demonstrated impact from ML systems that directly improved product performance or business metrics
- Expertise in at least one of the following: recommender systems, ranking models, predictive modeling, or ML optimization
- Strong coding and system design skills, with solid CS fundamentals
- Proficiency with modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch, Keras, or JAX
- Experience optimizing models for hardware accelerators (e.g. GPUs, TPUs)
- Hands-on experience with distributed infrastructure – ideally as a contributor to frameworks like TensorFlow, Apache Beam, Dataflow, Flume, or Parquet
- Familiarity with best practices in ML production, including data versioning, feature engineering, training pipelines, and model monitoring
- Ownership of production ML systems that materially shape the user experience and business performance
- Direct collaboration with MLI engineers to influence infrastructure strategy and tooling
- A culture that prioritizes technical depth, scalable systems, and measurable outcomes
