Position Summary:

The End User Computing (EUC) Staff IT Engineer will play a pivotal role within our global function, operating from our Bangalore office and reporting to the Sr IT Manager, End User Computing.

Given the establishment of Illumina’s new office, customer solutions center, and anticipated growth in India, we seek to onboard a staff engineer to develop the IT End User Computing operations team from its inception.

In this capacity, you will handle various IT tasks including but not limited to design, analysis, evaluation, testing, debugging, implementation of repairs, modifications, and upgrades, as well as diagnosing and resolving system errors or technical issues. You will oversee managed enterprise infrastructure platforms to detect performance concerns and ensure overall system integrity. Your responsibilities will also entail planning, conducting, and leading the analysis of business challenges through automated system solutions.

Your duties will encompass providing a high level of engineering support and administration for the managed endpoint platform and services such as Intune, SCCM, and Jamf. The ideal candidate must possess practical experience in designing, building, and maintaining deployment pipelines for endpoint provisioning.

This role is integral to the Global IT End User Computing team, sharing collective responsibility for system availability and performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Configure and manage Intune features like Configuration Profiles, Compliance Policies, and BitLocker encryption.

  • Application Deployment and Management: Deploy and manage various applications across different platforms (Windows, iOS, Android, macOS).

  • Individual will be an important member of the Global IT End User Computing team with collective accountability to availability & performance.

  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, ability to be agile and pivot frequently with rapid changes in business & functional demand.

  • Works on complex assignments where problem solving requires in-depth evaluation of varying factors and practices/procedures must be determined.

  • Strong experience with PowerShell scripting is essential for automating processes and managing system configurations.

  • Proficiency in mobile device management tools like Intune is required.

  • Experience with Service Now and its various integration points.

  • Responsibilities include coordinating and executing the installation of client and department specific applications and systems. This involves creating, managing, and maintaining software deployment packages and operating systems.

  • Ability to troubleshoot complex end user endpoint issues within an enterprise context after initial triage by other teams.

  • Must have operational experience collaborating with cross-functional teams on global security initiatives, along with a comprehensive understanding of endpoint security (laptops, desktops, mobiles, etc.)

  • Manages projects, ensuring timelines, milestones, resources, budgets and documents are adhered to.

  • Exercise judgement in selecting appropriate methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to achieve desired results.

  • Improve both internal and external working relationships and establish networks with key contacts outside one’s area of expertise. 

  • Collaborate with IT and business projects, working alongside team members and other cross-functional teams (EUS, Lab IT, Information Security).

  • Participation in a follow-the-sun on-call rotation is expected.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience.

  • Articulate and persuasive oral and written communications skills.

  • Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities with focus on customer service.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or guidance.

  • Capable of identifying and executing process improvement initiatives.

  • Experience managing SCCM and Intune.

  • Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as PowerShell or Bash.

  • Advanced proficiency in Active Directory and Azure environment including OS provisioning, software packaging, image management, and working with GPOs and configuration profiles.

  • Extensive knowledge of developing and managing desktop operating systems (Mac and Windows versions)

  • Strong experience with Windows Server.

  • Working knowledge with the following would be highly desired.

    • JAMF Apple Management.

    • AWS Workspaces, Microsoft Azure Services, Virtual Apps and Desktops.

  • Understanding of AWS infrastructure and services.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience

  • Microsoft certifications
