The main tasks and responsibilities for a CME Group Staff Infrastructure Engineer are to ensure that the data center is fully operational from a hardware and software standpoint. This includes planning layouts for new builds, running cables, racking equipment, installing/decommissioning cross connections, incident response and day-to-day maintenance and troubleshooting (Work Orders/CRQs/Tasks). On top of the Data Center responsibilities, the DCE engineers also need to ensure the customer CDN network is maintained/serviced in a timely manner.
Specific Responsibilities:
Access Management: Ensure the physical access is managed, granted and approved for all site visits.
Facility Infrastructure Maintenance: Ensure the seamless operation of our facility infrastructure through diligent maintenance practices.
Site Inspections & Monitoring: Conduct regular site inspections and monitor building and data centre alarms to ensure optimal performance.
Preventative Maintenance: Oversee and execute hands on preventative maintenance on site infrastructure, either directly or through vendor management, including managing the permit to work system.
Repairs & Corrective Maintenance: Perform and manage repairs and corrective maintenance on critical equipment to maintain uninterrupted service.
Planned Maintenance: Prepare and execute planned maintenance activities to ensure the reliability of our infrastructure.
Documentation: Ensure Sunbird is up to date to provide a single source of truth of facility/equipment. Ensure CRQ/Incidents/WOs/Tasks/DRM are created/updated/maintained in a timely fashion.
Incident Response: Assist in responding to on-site incidents and take initiative in handling incidents.
Change requests/Work Orders/Tasks & Installations: Complete work requests and circuit installations efficiently
Infrastructure Projects: Participate actively in ongoing infrastructure projects to enhance our facilities, this includes attending project meetings/drawing designs and BOM estimates.
Hardware Inventory management: Tracking, managing, and optimizing physical IT assets. It involves documenting, monitoring, and maintaining a detailed record of these assets throughout their lifecycle, from procurement to disposal.
Asset delivery management: Making sure inbound/outbound delivery is processed/managed/recorded in a timely fashion.
CDN network support: Setting up new equipment, systems or software at customer sites and ensuring proper functionality. Servicing IMACD/Documentation.
Maintain shift handover report: Ensuring information/responsibilities are transferred from the outgoing shift to the incoming shift.
