Our client is a fast-growing technology company.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Take charge of the technical direction and delivery of robotic equipment, moving designs from first prototypes to working installations at customer facilities. The position blends hands-on engineering, leadership and coaching, with room to grow into building and running a hardware group.

What you'll do

- Drive fast build-and-test cycles on new robotic equipment ahead of the first customer installation.

- Select and combine commercial robotic arms, grippers, cameras and sensors into working production cells.

- Take responsibility for hardware programs from initial specification through testing, manufacturing and on-site rollout.

- Define engineering practices, chair technical reviews and coach the mechanical engineers on the team.

- Contribute to recruiting and eventually managing a hardware team as installations expand.

- Hands-on experience assessing robotic hardware and tooling for specific tasks.

- Proven record of guiding complex hardware projects from concept through manufacturing and deployment.

- Prior work as a working technical lead or engineering manager.

- Solid grounding in mechanical design, including tolerancing, structures, material selection, actuation and fabrication methods.

- Familiarity with robotic manipulation components such as grippers, tool changers and force or tactile sensing.

- Comfort facilitating design discussions, settling disagreements across functions and steering direction through influence.

- U.S. citizenship.

- Availability to work on-site full-time in New York City.
