Role Overview

The Micro Frontend Platform team is responsible for building highly scalable, customer-facing user interfaces that power critical experiences across Coupang’s ecosystem. This is a pure frontend engineering role focused on delivering high-quality, performant UI for large-scale, consumer-facing applications.

The team works on systems that are directly exposed to end users, requiring strong emphasis on responsiveness, low latency, and seamless user experience. These applications operate at high scale and are critical to delivering intuitive and engaging customer journeys across web platforms.

As a Staff Frontend Engineer, you will contribute to building robust UI architectures, ensuring high performance and scalability, and delivering polished user interfaces that directly impact customer experience while collaborating closely with product and backend teams.

What You Will Do

• Build scalable, high-performance user interfaces for customer-facing applications using React and modern frontend frameworks
• Develop reusable components and modular UI architectures, ensuring consistency and maintainability across large systems
• Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver intuitive, seamless user experiences for high-impact B2C products
• Optimize for low latency, fast rendering, and responsiveness in high-traffic, large-scale environments
• Own end-to-end frontend systems, driving performance, reliability, and engineering excellence
• Deliver customer-first experiences at scale, continuously improving UI quality and functionality for millions of users

Basic Qualifications

• At least 7–8+ years of frontend engineering experience 
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript and modern frontend frameworks like Vue.js or React.js
• Experience building customer-facing (B2C) web applications at scale
• Strong understanding of UI development principles, component-based architecture, and reusable design systems
• Experience working with Node.js for frontend/backend integration layers
• Proven experience delivering high-performance, low-latency user interfaces
• Experience optimizing frontend performance (rendering, loading time, responsiveness)
• Strong understanding of browser fundamentals, networking, and client-side performance tuning
• Experience building scalable frontend systems in high-traffic environments
• Strong problem-solving skills with attention to UI quality and performance
• Experience collaborating closely with backend, product, and design teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Vue.js or multiple frontend frameworks in addition to React
• Deep expertise in frontend performance optimization at scale (large user traffic systems)
• Experience building highly interactive, customer-facing applications in B2C environments
• Strong understanding of UI latency optimization and real-time user experience improvements
• Experience working on large-scale frontend architectures (micro-frontends, modular UI systems)
• Familiarity with design systems and component libraries for consistent UI development
• Experience working in high-scale environments where UI performance directly impacts customer experience
• Prior experience with companies building consumer-facing products (e.g., e-commerce, ride-sharing, fintech apps)

Type of work model

• Hybrid / Onsite / Remote working

Our Hybrid work model: Coupang hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration that acts a catalyst to enrich the experience of employees. Employees are required to work at least 3 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 2 days a week, depending on the role requirement. Some businesses may require more time in office due to nature of work.
