Staff Software Engineer

We're looking for a Staff Engineer who thrives in fast-moving environments and wants to make a direct impact from day one. This role goes far beyond writing code — you’ll shape technical direction, drive architectural evolution, and influence product outcomes alongside your peers in product, design, and engineering.

• Build deep familiarity with our systems, architecture, and key product domains

• Contribute production-ready code to high-impact projects

• Participate in architectural discussions around event-driven system evolution

• Collaborate closely with PMs, Designers, and EMs to align technical work with business goals

• Begin mentoring engineers and identifying areas to improve quality and velocity

• Lead complex initiatives spanning multiple teams or systems

• Drive progress on our transition from a monolith to an event-driven, serverless architecture (EventBridge, Lambdas, DynamoDB)

• Champion reliability, maintainability, and performance across our stack

• Influence long-term technical decisions through code, reviews, and RFCs

• Help level up the team through mentoring, pairing, and clear communication

• Lead high-impact engineering initiatives and contribute to product strategy

• Architect, design, and build scalable and secure systems across backend and frontend

• Work cross-functionally to ensure technical decisions support real customer value

• Guide our migration to event-driven architecture with modern AWS tooling

• Elevate engineering standards through mentorship, documentation, and best practices

• Support hiring, onboarding, and team development as we scale

• Partner with PMs and designers to deliver product experiences that work beautifully

• Experience building and shipping complex systems at startups or growth-stage companies

• Strong backend skills with Node.js and TypeScript, with comfort across the stack

• Familiarity with MongoDB and modern AWS tools (EventBridge, Lambda, DynamoDB)

• Pragmatic mindset — you balance technical excellence with speed and business impact

• Experience leading initiatives end-to-end, from concept to production

• Strong collaboration and communication skills, especially in remote teams

• Passion for performance, reliability, and clean, maintainable code

• Comfort mentoring engineers and helping grow a healthy, high-velocity team

• Curiosity around AI tooling and interest in integrating intelligent systems

• Experience working on distributed, event-driven architectures

• Exposure to infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation)

• Background working on communication, automation, or productivity tools

• Hands-on involvement with AI-enhanced product features
