About the Role:

The Staff Engineer is responsible for leading and executing manufacturing-related projects while providing CNC programming support to meet production, quality, and delivery objectives. This role serves as a key link between engineering, manufacturing, and leadership to ensure projects are completed efficiently and processes are optimized. This role requires a balance of project leadership and hands-on technical capability to drive results in a manufacturing environment. 

 

 

Key Responsibilities 

Project Management 

  • Lead and coordinate projects by defining scope, objectives, timelines, and deliverables. 

  • Manage day-to-day project execution, ensuring tasks are completed on schedule and aligned with priorities. 

  • Communicate project status, risks, and changes to stakeholders and leadership. 

  • Identify potential risks and implement mitigation plans to minimize impact on cost, quality, and delivery. 

CNC Programming & Manufacturing Support 

  • Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs to support production requirements. 

  • Partner with machinists and engineers to ensure programs meet quality, efficiency, and safety standards. 

  • Troubleshoot machining and process issues, implementing corrective actions to improve performance and reduce downtime. 

  • Support process validation and continuous improvement efforts through programming and technical expertise. 

Required Qualifications 

  • Experience in project coordination, engineering, or a related manufacturing role. 

  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills. 

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement solutions. 

  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in technical work and documentation.

  • Experience in FeatureCAM, MasterCAM, Creo, and Six Sigma

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with CNC programming and machining processes. 

  • Familiarity with project management and data analysis tools. 

  • Working knowledge of manufacturing principles, tooling, and shop practices.

Summary Pay Range:

$77,264.00 - $115,896.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
