Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Staff Survivability Engineer - Hardware Integration to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position can be located in San Diego, CA or Melbourne, FL.
The selected engineer will perform as a member of an interdisciplinary team on key efforts to develop novel HW integration and test on developmental NGAS programs. The successful engineer will contribute to the overall development of HW subsystems, including developing functional architectures, analyzing performance, developing and managing requirements and interfaces, and verifying/validating all allocated requirements. You will design, develop, build, and test electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks in conjunction with key suppliers.
Will be responsible for one or more of the following:
- Requirements development, analysis, maturation, and implementation, translating customer requirements into hardware specifications
- Collaborate with engineers and program stakeholders to integrate avionics and mission subsystems to meet platform mission objectives
- Work collaboratively with cross-disciplinary teams, including hardware, software, and firmware engineers
- Develop supplier documentation such as procurement specifications, and statements of work, and review artifacts from the supplier’s development effort
- Document designs using detailed schematics, diagrams, and specifications
- Support development and integration of HW subsystems and components to meet platform mission objectives
- Develop integrated HW integration and test
- Performing functional and performance analyses
- Conducting detailed trade studies
- Perform analyses and estimate performance of components, subsystems, and systems in accordance with governmental and commercial standards.
- Configure, test, document and troubleshoot avionics and mission systems
Basic Qualifications:
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 12 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university AND 10 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; or a Ph.D. AND 8 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering
- Knowledge of electromagnetics in the RF spectrum (VHF through Ka bands)
- Experience in RF/EW applications, including developing and applying models in Matlab, Python, and/or C/C++, along with experience in tracking and algorithm development.
- Familiarity with 1 or more RF sensing modalities and their applications.
- Experience in decomposing, deriving, allocating and tracing requirements from system to component level
- Experience with developing supplier documentation, performance-based specifications, and statements of work
- Experience in supplier/subcontract management
- Experience with working on a multidisciplinary team and writing technical proposals
- Experience designing, developing, integrating, and/or testing RF equipment for airborne platforms
- Knowledge of system engineering design methods, including requirements analysis and flow-down, specification derivation and interface control documentation
An active U.S. Government issued Top Secret SCI Security Clearance as well as Special Program Access (SAP) within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs

- Experience in model-based systems engineering using Cameo or similar SysML tools
- Experience with generating and managing requirements in DOORs
- Experience in performance analysis using MATLAB and Excel or similar tools
- Familiarity with Atlassian collaboration tool set (Jira and Confluence)
- Experience in supplier/subcontract management
- Experience with developing supplier documentation, performance-based specifications, and statements of work
- Understand NGAS Sector Engineering procedures
- Experience building supplier evaluation criteria and experience in conducting technical evaluations, documenting results and selection
