This role is responsible for developing and maintaining multiple development platforms for the Chamberlain MyQ program. This includes, but is not limited to, residential and commercial front end iOS/Android apps, or web applications. To accomplish this the incumbent will work with other developers in addition to interfacing with other parts of the business such as Engineering, Product Ownership, Marketing, Quality Assurance, Operations, and Customer Service in order to understand and translate product requirements into technical requirements, verify development matches product owner expectations, as well as maintain a high-quality code base.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary point person across multiple scrum teams for interactions with product owner, front end, middleware, DevOps, and firmware functional teams to implement mobile app new features
  • Participate in technical assessment, scoping and management of changes to the code-based on new business requirements, product enhancements and other change requests across multiple scrum teams
  • Analyze requirements, collaborate with architects and senior engineers to produce thoughtful software designs of large scope and high complexity
  • Develop software using Agile methodologies, such as Scrum
  • Lead and contribute to technical discussions in community of practice, design review, pull request, or other technical meeting forums
  • Interface with marketing and product owners to deploy production releases
  • Stay current on modern technologies and innovations which can further enhance and improve the commercial success of the MyQ connectivity solution
  • Maintain platform specific software knowledge of key software application features, frameworks, and components
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to junior and senior engineers to increase software capability of the development team
  • Collaborate with other Chamberlain domain experts, such as Infrastructure, Database, and Middleware, as the team develops features and platform enhancements • Lead offshore teams to design and develop features
  • Enforce process standards for internal development processes to provide consistent development practices among developers
  • Responsible for complying with the security requirements set forth by the Information Security team and the established ISO 27001 Security Roles, Responsibilities, and Authorities Document found in the ISMS Document Library
  • Comply with health and safety guidelines and rules; managers should also ensure compliance across their teams.
  • Protect Chamberlain Group’s reputation by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reading professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results and participating on projects as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • An advanced degree in directly applicable area of study may substitute for up to two (2) years of experience.
  • iOS engineer must have native experience in Swift (7+ years)
  • Android engineers must have native experience with Kotlin (7+ years)
  • Experience writing unit tests
  • Experience working in larger team environment
  • Experience working with Git for source control
  • Experience leading architectural and process changes
  • Experience in creating technical documentation
  • Deep understanding of Agile methodologies and Scrum
  • Experience performing technical interviews
  • Expertise of UI patterns such as model-view-controller (MVC) and model-view-view model (MVVM) is required
  • Expertise in RESTful services and the JSON file format.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to lead junior and senior engineers on projects of high complexity.
  • Ability to recognize issues in existing software and put together improvement plans.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross functionally with back end and quality engineers.
  • Strong ability to interface with Product Owners and Scrum Masters for ticket/issue management.
  • Strong ability to estimate work, support project plan creation, and report out progress to functional management at a platform level.
  • Understanding of CI/CD (continuous integration/continuous delivery) tools, frameworks and deployment processes.
  • Experience defining process improvements and implementing change

  • Mobile development bootcamp, organized training, or certifications.
  • Ability to lead changes on a mobile platform that is not their expertise (e.g. experience is iOS, but could help lead Android devs).

The pay range for this position is $126,198.00 - $215,291.00; base pay offered may vary depending on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience. In addition to base pay, also offered is a comprehensive benefits package and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). This position is eligible for participation in a short-term incentive plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies.
