About the Role:
As a Staff Engineer on the Platform Data & Services team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the foundation of HighLevel’s platform. You’ll design and develop shared frameworks, libraries, and core services that power products at scale. This role is ideal for engineers who thrive in ambiguity, enjoy solving large-scale engineering challenges, and are passionate about creating systems that enable massive impact across teams.
Responsibilities:
- Architect, develop, and maintain reusable frameworks, SDKs, and core platform services in Node.js and GoLang
- Build scalable, cloud-native solutions leveraging Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Design systems that efficiently interact with large-scale data using ElasticSearch, Google Firestore, MongoDB Atlas, ClickHouse, and Redis
- Contribute to high-performance service architecture capable of handling terabytes of data
- Lead design reviews, establish best practices, and mentor senior engineers to raise technical standards across the organization
- Partner with multiple teams to deliver reliable, secure, and maintainable platform capabilities
Requirements:
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, with demonstrated success in distributed systems or large-scale backend services
- Strong expertise in Node.js, GoLang, and cloud infrastructure (preferably GCP)
- Hands-on experience designing, optimizing, and scaling systems using modern databases such as ElasticSearch, Firestore, MongoDB, ClickHouse, and Redis
- Strong understanding of microservices, APIs, CI/CD, and observability frameworks
- Proven ability to lead technically, navigate ambiguity, and deliver impactful results
Good to Have:
- Experience building internal platforms or frameworks used by multiple product teams
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, service mesh, or developer tooling
- Background in high-traffic SaaS environments with focus on scalability and resilience
