Senior Design Engineer – High Pressure Pumps

Essential responsibilities of this role include:

Design and develop ultra-high pressure components and systems for abrasive waterjet cutting (e.g. direct drive and intensifier pumps, nozzles, cutting heads, fluid conveyance methods)

Utilize “best practice” design approaches including tolerance analysis, DFMA, DFMEA to produce optimal designs

Create well drafted test plans and conduct peer reviews pre and post test execution

Conduct and analyze hands-on scientific experiments using prototyping, design of experiments (DOE), and statistical analysis

Communicate and collaborate with engineers, managers, and technicians

Collaborate with marketing and operations to deliver compelling products and cutting solutions

Who you are and the experience you will bring:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Physics or similar discipline.

5-8 years of product engineering experience, or equivalent

 High level of organization, creativity, and self-motivation

 Willingness to seek and obtain peer review to improve design solutions

 Ability to define, execute, and document engineering tests and characterize the performance, usability, and reliability of design solutions

 Experience with engineering instrumentation such as flow measurements, thermal measurements, pressure measurements, oscilloscopes, and data acquisition systems/software

Proficiency with computer-aided design (CAD)

Knowledge of statistical tools, DOE, FMEA, Design for Assembly/Sustainability, and problem-solving techniques

Ability to work with engineering technicians and provide them written and/or verbal guidance

Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate at all levels of the organization

Ability to work as part of a geographically distributed team

Preferred experience to differentiate you:

An advanced degree (Masters/PhD) in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related areas is highly desirable

Design and analysis experience in compliance with ASME BPVC Section VIII Div 3

Modeling proficiency with ANSYS modules for FEA and CFD

Experience developing new products and concepts in coordination with a multi-disciplinary team (marketing, supply chain or other engineering disciplines)

Deep comprehension and hands-on application of fluid dynamics, physics, and metallurgical properties (including fatigue & fracture mechanics) highly desired

Experience recommending design changes, cost reductions, warranty/manufacturing improvements

Experience improving product reliability, cost, and functionality

Experience working with product life-cycle management (PLM) systems

Experience with ASME Y14.5 GD&T dimensional/tolerance practices

$97,407.00-$162,344.48 AnnualThis is the base pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors.
