Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer – Level 5 to join our team in Redondo Beach, CA. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.
You will have the opportunity to design, develop, and execute test procedures and automated test scripts and tools using spacecraft commands, telemetry, and electrical ground support equipment. Daily responsibilities will require I&T test preparation leading to direct contact with satellite and space flight hardware. Candidate must be able to tackle issues utilizing skills obtained in the field of electrical engineering, or a related discipline, preferably as it relates to system-level integration and test.
In this job, you will:
Understand complex electrical circuits and software within the flight hardware and test equipment
Develop Integration & Test tools, scripts, procedures, specifications, and limits
Execute unit-level, subsystem-level, and system-level testing, monitoring tests per specification, troubleshooting, and documenting all test activities
Support test anomaly troubleshooting efforts, root cause analysis, corrective action solutions, and nonconformance documentation for testing of flight and non-flight hardware/software, understanding when and how to proceed per NG/program process
Participate, prepare, and present material in program review boards (ERBs, TRRs, FRBs, etc.)
Coordinate with ITEE team leads, electrical floor operations, and I&T managers to complete tasking
Other duties as assigned
This position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 12 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 10 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 8 years of professional experience.
Requires an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope
Prior experience in Aerospace or Defense industry with system-level integration and test of hardware and software
Demonstrated, strong computer and programming skills
Support off-nominal shifts, extended shifts, weekends, and holidays as required
Travel off-site as required
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with proliferated systems testing or fast-paced production line testing/planning
Directly related experience with long-term test planning and preparation of full system-level Integration & Test campaigns, including Environmental test planning/preparations (Thermal Cycle, Thermal Vacuum, Dynamics, Vibe, Acoustics, and EMI testing)
Programming or debugging experience with any of the following languages: STOL/JAS, Python, C
Experience with any of the following tools: Manufacturo, Odoo, InControl, Jira/Confluence, Git/Bitbucket
Active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $177,000.00 - $265,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
