Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Staff Electronics Engineer – Hardware/Infrastructure Lead, to join our team in Rancho Bernardo, Ca. The candidate should be a self-starter with familiarity working in an Integrated Product Team construct. This position will be in our Avionics Integration Organization.
Roles and Responsibilities will include:
- Provide technical leadership and direction to a cross-functional team of cloud, datacenter, and infrastructure engineers.
- Manage the team’s Jira project: lead scrums, define sprint plans, track progress, and resolve priority conflicts.
- Maintain technical breadth across the datacenter and IT stack (compute, storage, networking, virtualization, containers, and observability).
- Develop and execute a staffing and content delivery plan per the IFC roadmap.
- Plan and release content for each IFC based on program milestones and technical dependencies.
- Coordinate with the Product Owner to groom the backlog, prioritize work, and align deliverables to program milestones and technical risk.
- Translate customer requirements into hardware, Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Environment, Platform and Tenant design and delivery plans.
- Define and review acceptance criteria with Product Owner and System Engineers to ensure consistent implementation and verification.
- Participate in design and peer reviews; author technical design artifacts, runbooks, and test plans.
- Decompose complex technical issues into concise executive briefs for program leadership and decision-making.
- Provide hands-on mentorship, knowledge transfer, and technical oversight during solution implementation and integration.
- Ensure configuration management, change control, and traceability for hardware and infrastructure designs and deployments.
- Perform cost account planning, budgeting and earned value management.
The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility. There is NO remote / hybrid / telework available for this position. Travel up to 25% may be required.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 12 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in STEM discipline and 10 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in STEM discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience.
- Experience leading a team
- Hands on experience with server, storage, virtualization, and networking technologies in enterprise or defense datacenter environments.
- Practical experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and hybrid cloud architectures.
- Strong working knowledge of network fundamentals and security best practices for infrastructure.
- Proven ability to translate customer requirements into hardware/infrastructure designs, develop acceptance criteria, and produce technical documentation and runbooks.
- Familiarity with configuration management, change control, and compliance requirements
- Familiarity with earned value management
- A U.S. Citizen with Active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance OR active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility (with a background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs
