The Role

Job Description:

Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced High Voltage Protection Engineer to design, analyze, and test protection systems for medium- and high-voltage electrical systems. This role requires expertise in power systems protection, electrical safety standards, and hands-on experience with power conversion systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and optimize protection systems for medium and high-voltage electrical systems interconnected to low-voltage based power conversion systems via medium-voltage transformers.

  • Perform power system studies (e.g., short circuit analysis, protection coordination, arc flash hazard analysis) in compliance with industry standards.

  • Conduct electrical testing on medium- and high-voltage equipment in accordance with industry standards, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.

  • Perform failure analysis and validation for interconnected power converters products.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance system reliability, safety, and performance.

  • Document system designs, test results, and compliance reports, providing regular updates on project milestones.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field.

  • Minimum of 10 years in power system protection, with hands-on experience in high-voltage hardware design and testing.

  • Expertise in protection design and coordination for medium- and high-voltage systems.

  • Strong understanding of electrical protection devices and safety standards

  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards, such as IEEE 1547 (series)  

  • Proficiency in power system simulation tools

  • Hands-on experience with energy systems .

  • Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and safety awareness.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to thrive in high-pressure environments while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Pay is based on market location and may vary based on factors including experience, skills, education and other job-related reasons. The annual salary range for this position is Pay Range (Applicable to California) $190,000.00 - $210,000.00 dependent on level of experience.
