We are seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer IV to join our Platform Engineering team responsible for designing, building, and operating our enterprise Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS). This role is responsible for developing scalable platform capabilities that enable engineering teams to rapidly build, deploy, and operate secure, compliant, and reliable applications across AWS and Azure.
The ideal candidate is passionate about developer experience, cloud-native technologies, infrastructure automation, Kubernetes, and building reusable platform capabilities that serve hundreds of development teams. This individual will serve as a technical leader, driving engineering excellence while mentoring other engineers and influencing architectural direction across the platform.
Responsibilities- Design, build, and maintain core capabilities of the enterprise Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS).
- Develop scalable automation using Go, Terraform, Kubernetes, and cloud-native technologies.
- Design and implement reusable platform services that improve developer productivity and reduce operational overhead.
- Build and maintain APIs, operators, controllers, and automation that support platform lifecycle management.
- Drive improvements to platform reliability, scalability, observability, and operational excellence.
- Lead the design and implementation of secure infrastructure aligned with enterprise security and compliance requirements.
- Develop automation for infrastructure provisioning, deployment workflows, secrets management, networking, and platform operations.
- Participate in architecture reviews and provide technical leadership across platform initiatives.
- Troubleshoot complex distributed systems and production issues.
- Partner with Security, Networking, Cloud Infrastructure, and Application Engineering teams to deliver enterprise platform capabilities.
- Mentor junior engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and technical coaching.
- Champion engineering best practices including testing, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and GitOps.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of software engineering experience.
- Extensive experience developing applications in Go (preferred), Java, C#, Python, or similar languages.
- Deep experience with Kubernetes in production environments.
- Strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and/or Azure.
- Experience building Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
- Experience with CI/CD platforms such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.
- Experience designing REST APIs and distributed systems.
- Strong understanding of networking, DNS, TLS, load balancing, and cloud infrastructure.
- Experience operating highly available production services.
- Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
