The Staff New Product Development Scientist for Beckman Coulter is responsible for collaborating with development scientists and data scientists developing assays for a new Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (AST) platform and be a representative on project teams.
This position is part of Development Science team located in West Sacramento, California and will be required to be on-site 5 days a week. At Beckman Coulter, our vision is to relentlessly reimagine healthcare, one diagnosis at a time.
This position will report directly to the Director, Microbiology who is responsible for the consumable product development and post launch sustainment activities within the organization. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Collaborate with development scientists and data scientists in developing new assays used for antimicrobial susceptibility testing as part of a new systems platform including interfaces with software and instruments.
- Prepare and present reports and technical presentations
- Provide updates to management team
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Bachelor’s degree in clinical microbiology, or related discipline with 10+ years of experience in product development OR Masters’ Degree with 7+ years of experience in product development OR PhD with 3+ years of experience in product development
- Significant experience in antimicrobial susceptibility product development in a regulated medical device field, ISO 13485 and FDA 21CFR Part 820
- Strong understanding and application of Design of Experiments
- Strong leadership skills
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Working with breakpoint setting organizations e.g., CLSI, EUCAST, FDA
The salary range for this role is $117K-$140K. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
