Staff Development Coordinator

Mitcham Private Hospital is a fully accredited, 121 bed acute medical, surgical, maternity and mental health facility, providing for the healthcare needs of Melbourne’s outer eastern communities.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Staff Development Coordinator to join our dedicated team. This vital role focuses on enhancing clinical practice, ensuring staff competence, and supporting the continuous professional development of our nursing team.

You will be required to:

• Manage the Education team and undergraduate coordinator
• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based training and support to the staff at our hospital
• Develop, implement, and evaluate learning and development programs across the facility.
• Provide valuable contributions to the hospital’s quality improvement process.
• Facilitating department based training and clinical competency assessments across undergraduates.

Reporting to the DCS, you will perform duties with the support and guidance of the Floor managers, to ensure a high level of quality patient care is delivered in line with the care values and strategic direction of the Hospital and Ramsay Health Care.

About You:

You will be an experienced nurse with strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a passion for education and professional development within the theatre environment. You will also demonstrate:

• Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
• Minimum 5 years acute clinical experience
• ALS and PALs accredited assessor highly desirable 
• Postgraduate qualification (or working towards) highly desirable
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) or equivalent adult education qualification desirable

Position Requirements:

• Experience supporting accreditation processes, including participation in quality improvement activities, policy implementation, and compliance with national standards
• Demonstrated ability to act as a positive professional role model, promoting safe practice, teamwork, and a culture of continuous learning
• Leadership and team facilitation experience, supporting staff development, orientation programs, and clinical competency frameworks
• Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise education initiatives within a busy theatre environment
• Well-developed clinical problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• A strong commitment to mentoring and coaching staff, fostering professional growth and positively influencing team performance and patient outcomes
