Position Overview

Trinity Oaks Health & Rehab is seeking a full-time Staff Development Coordinator RN. This position offers a Monday–Friday schedule, with pay discussed during the interview. Benefit eligibility begins after 30 days and includes insurance coverage and PTO. Team members who opt out of benefits receive an additional $2.00 per hour.

In this role, the Staff Development Coordinator organizes facility-wide in-service and training programs, supports electronic medical record system education, and helps ensure staff remain current with required education. The SDC may also assist with Infection Prevention Coordinator responsibilities and support the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Program (QAPI).

Essential Duties

The Staff Development Coordinator works in accordance with federal and state regulations, as well as Lutheran Services Carolinas guidelines, to support staff education, compliance, quality improvement, and safe facility operations.

  • Maintain the monthly required in-service calendar and assign online or supplemental training as needed.
  • Lead orientation for new staff, complete skills assessments, and recommend additional training when appropriate.
  • Coordinate education and training for the electronic medical record system.
  • Maintain staff education records and notify supervisors when requirements have not been met.
  • Assess facility-wide training needs, develop programs with department managers, and support individual staff development.
  • Provide targeted coaching for staff who need improvement or additional support.
  • Collect quality assurance data and assist with QAPI coordination under administrative direction.
  • Attend QAPI meetings, review data, identify opportunities for improvement, and help implement solutions.
  • Evaluate training programs using staff feedback and recommend updates as needed.
  • Bring in outside consultants and community resources to enhance learning opportunities.
  • Train staff on new and updated policies and procedures.
  • Support infection prevention efforts as directed, including maintaining infection control programs, tracking infections, assisting with investigations, and overseeing vaccination campaigns.
  • Ensure Hepatitis B vaccines are offered, maintain related documentation, and verify TB clearance for new employees.
  • Oversee drug testing for new hires and coordinate random screenings.
  • Confirm required CPR training for personnel.
  • Perform on-call nursing duties when assigned.
  • Represent LSC’s mission, vision, values, and service standards in daily interactions.
  • Complete other duties necessary to support effective facility operations.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This role does not routinely include direct supervision, except when serving as nursing supervisor or charge nurse.

Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
  • Experience: Minimum of one year of nursing experience.
  • Licensure: Current Registered Nurse license in North Carolina.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include a BSN degree, eligibility for CPR and medication aide instructor certification, and prior experience in geriatric nursing, teaching, or supervision.
