St. Bernard Nursing & Rehab is seeking a dedicated and experienced Staff Development Coordinator / Infection Preventionist (RN or LPN) to join our clinical leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for a nurse who enjoys mentoring others, improving clinical outcomes, and helping create a culture of excellence in resident care.

As the SDC/IP, you will play a key role in staff education, onboarding, competency development, infection prevention, and regulatory compliance while supporting our nursing team in delivering high-quality care.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and provide orientation and ongoing education for nursing staff.
  • Develop, schedule, and maintain employee training programs and competencies.
  • Track required education, certifications, and annual training requirements.
  • Serve as the facility Infection Preventionist and oversee infection prevention programs.
  • Monitor infection trends and implement prevention strategies.
  • Educate staff on infection control practices, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with audits, quality improvement initiatives, and survey readiness.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to education and infection prevention activities.
  • Collaborate with nursing leadership to promote a culture of safety and excellence.
Qualifications
  • Current, active Louisiana RN or LPN license.
  • Previous experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, education, infection prevention, or nursing leadership preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to train, mentor, and motivate team members.
  • Knowledge of CMS regulations, infection control standards, and nursing practices preferred.
