What You’ll Do
- Set technical direction for optimization and predictive modeling capabilities in MetOptima.
- Define a strategy for modeling mineral processing plants, including milling, flotation, and leaching, together with Mining & Process Engineering experts.
- Pioneer new optimization methods and de-risk advanced techniques through rapid prototyping and experimentation.
- Lead high-impact R&D initiatives from concept to prototype, ensuring scalability and product readiness.
- Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering to integrate innovations into production.
- Mentor and support other data scientists in advanced modeling and optimization practices.
What You Bring
- 8+ years in applied machine learning or optimization (or 6+ with a PhD), with experience in R&D or advanced modeling.
- Deep expertise in time-series modeling and at least one of: constrained optimization, control systems, Bayesian optimization, or causal inference.
- Strong proficiency in Python, with experience in production ML fundamentals (testing, CI/CD, monitoring, feature management).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow).
- Excellent ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics) required; Master’s or Ph.D. preferred.
- Proficiency in English.
