The team
The Route Engineering team develops next-generation technologies that change how millions of consumers see, share, and discover the world's most innovative brands and products. Route Engineers have backgrounds in distributed systems design and development, large-scale data storage and processing systems, UI design, mobile, and much more — but what unites this talented team is a passion for the Route mission to connect the world's commerce through our suite of transformational products.
The Data Engineering team (DAENGR). The Data Engineering team is responsible for collecting, processing, gathering, and normalizing data for the entire organization. We rely on great business relationships with multiple departments, excellent problem solving skills in the face of ambiguous processes, and aligning the business with the data they are able to expose.
The opportunity
Are you ready to make a significant impact on the development of large-scale data infrastructures and the business as a whole? We're seeking a dynamic candidate who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about data engineering and architecture. In this role, you'll work across various levels of our organization to create and manage data pathways, develop self-service mechanisms, and act as the platform owner for all our data systems.
Your expertise in data ingestion and engineering best practices will be crucial as you leverage multiple data systems such as Snowflake, Databricks, RDS, S3, and more. If you're a data wizard with a proven track record in managing complex data environments and are excited about driving innovation and efficiency, we want you on our team!
What you’ll do
- Build new data pipelines from multiple systems such as Salesforce, Zendesk, Stripe, internal production systems, S3, etc.
- Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure a complete, end-to-end lifecycle of data for existing and new products.
- Design and implement database migrations and tooling from Snowflake to Databricks.
- Establish data integration patterns for ingress and egress.
- Support analysts with their data requests.
- Expand the foundation for a company-wide data retention policy.
- Champion and help develop data democratization at scale.
- Meet with multiple business units to determine and prioritize their data needs.
What we’re looking for
- 5+ years of relevant experience in data engineering
- Experience in data ingress/egress from multiple systems (partner endpoints/APIs as well as internal endpoints)
- Experience with Spark, Python, SQL, AWS (S3, RDS, Airflow, etc.)
- Experience with building out a DBT infrastructure, Snowflake and Databricks
- Experience with Terraform is a plus

Pay Transparency
Salary for this role: $160,000 - $172,000
The cash compensation above includes base salary, and is not reflective of potential commission for employees in eligible roles, or annual bonus targets under Route’s bonus plan for eligible roles. In addition to cash compensation, all Route employees are eligible to participate in Routes equity incentive plan to receive stock options per the terms of the agreement. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay. Individual compensation packages are based on a few different factors unique to each candidate, including their career level, skills, experience, specific geographic location qualifications and other job-related reasons.

With a Route integration, a consumer is able to carbon neutralize their package with green tracking and green package protection. If any issues arise, users can resolve an order issues within a few taps with resolve.
