Architecture standards come from the Principal Data Architect and governance policy comes from the Sr Principal Technical Product Manager; this role builds to both. Success improves Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost by making data flow reliably and access enforcement provable across hybrid cloud, on-premises, and edge environments.Job DescriptionRoles and Responsibilities
This is the build seat. The Data Fabric's standards, policies, and ontology only become real when the pipelines run and the enforcement holds, and that is this role. You will work across hybrid cloud, on-premises, and customer-site environments in a defense context where access control has to be provable, on a small team where what you build gets used immediately.
Pipeline and connector engineering
- Build and maintain automated metadata ingestion pipelines across distributed source systems
- Develop API and connector integrations for new data sources and for data-product delivery, including third-party and customer-site sources
- Plan, schedule, and execute integration work for data products moving through the lifecycle
- Support schema-translation pipeline builds in partnership with the Sr Staff Data Engineer
Policy enforcement
- Wire the policy enforcement engine that operationalizes governance rules and the runtime design set by the Principal Data Architect
- Implement policy-as-code and attribute-based access control, including export-control and data-sovereignty enforcement
- Partner with federated IAM and export compliance architects to validate enforcement logic against the access model
- Onboard and manage the technical operations of data products in the fabric: monitoring, alerting, and pipeline reliability
- Maintain technical documentation that federated teams can build against
- Support the 3–5 business-day certification and onboarding SLA with timely technical assessment of submissions
- Build to the architecture standards set by the Principal Data Architect rather than defining them independently
- Raise gaps in standards back to the Architect with a proposed pattern instead of a local workaround
- Contribute to the standard work for onboarding data products and operating the fabric

- Experience with hybrid cloud, on-premises, and edge secure connectivity and secure data transmission patterns.
- Familiarity with metadata-driven governance platforms and with policy-as-code or attribute-based access control.
- Hands-on pipeline engineering across ingestion, transformation, and orchestration in hybrid environments.
- API and connector development for both first-party and third-party or customer-site data sources.
- Comfort operating as a hands-on builder embedded in a lean, standards-driven core team.
- Defense, aerospace, or other regulated or export-controlled data environment background.
