Staff, Data Engineer (Ads Ops Data Support)

Team & Role Overview:

Coupang Ads is the advertising platform team within Coupang.  We are a globally distributed team focused on delivering advertising solutions for those that sell products on our platform.  This includes display, search, performance, brand and video ads offerings. 

Ads Ops Data Support team provides accruable data to ads business to maximize revenue from Coupang advertising solutions. We are responsible for managing Data-pipeline to ingest Ads data for DA,DS and Normal Users to use data easily. We are responsible for helping DA,DS to manage their self-service Data-pipeline. We manage the servers and Git repositories assigned to us in close collaboration with the Corporate Infrastructure Team and Data Platform Team. We will improve data integrity through data governance and implement data lineage to help users easily find the data they need. Our goal is for AI to study this accumulated data, enabling users to automate query creation and optimization.

Responsibilities:

As a Staff, Data Engineer at Coupang Ads, you will be responsible for the following:     

• Serve as a technical expert and exert technical influence over a team, increasing their productivity and effectiveness by sharing your deep knowledge and experience
• Work closely with Business analyst and Data Scientist in Ads Business organization, identify their data needs, identify core KPI’s to drive business growth, Influence source data producers to log key attributes
• Define foundational data models for core business domains such as advertising, finance, salesforce systems etc.
• Design and build reliable data pipelines using modern distributed processing technologies such as Hive, Spark, Streaming and Presto with the ability to scale very large data volumes
• Develop, implement, and operate a comprehensive framework for document retention review and compliance monitoring
• Collaborate with the data platform team to set up the Airflow Repository environment and develop Operators
• Data Lineage server (AWS) environment configuration and back-end processing

Basic Qualifications:

• A bachelor's degree or higher in relevant major such as computer science, engineering, etc.
• More than 10 years of practical experience
• Strong SQL  
• Python, NodeJS or Other Software Engineering Language
• CICD experience with CircleCI or similar tools
• Kubernetes/Docker experience in production level
• 2+ years of experience running and monitoring the system with kubernetes
• Hive, Spark, Presto
• Data Pipeline or ETL Tool (Airflow)
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously for multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced organization 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Data visualization (e.g., Tableau, Qlik, Looker, Power BI) 
• Machine Learning or AI Programming experience 
• Previous experience in AdTech / Advertising (search, display, branding, retargeting, social, streaming video…), Digital Marketing, Ad Agency, or related domains
• Master's degree in a technical field
