We are seeking a team member who wants to solve interesting, complex problems to help protect our nation. We are a trusted mission payload and ground system provider with extensive experience providing end-to-end mission solutions from concept through operations and support. The team you will support is located at our Space Park campus in Redondo Beach, CA.
What you’ll get to do?
As a Cyber Systems Engineer on this team, you will act as the Cyber Subject Matter Expert and ensure compliance within the Risk Management Framework. You will identify and perform research, analysis, evaluation, development and test of technologies from industry, academia, and other government organizations, to include Commercial Off- The-Shelf (COTS), Government Off-The-Shelf (GOTS), and open source technologies, for applicability to solving Cyberspace Operations deficiencies and capability gaps, improving existing Cyberspace Operations and enabling capabilities and/or generating new Cyberspace Operations capabilities. Additionally, you will provide systems engineering recommendations and assist with the planning and execution of development efforts for complex software and hardware systems, and systems of systems.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Have advanced knowledge of Systems Engineering practices, network technologies, system development life-cycles and methodologies, and insight into information technology infrastructure management/monitoring and applications
- Understand how their tasks fit within the overall program operational objectives and perform their work accordingly, have strong verbal/written communication skills, the ability to work well within a team environment, and strong analytical capabilities with the interest in applying troubleshooting skills and techniques to solve problems.
- Develop and document technical standard operating processes and procedures as needed
- Lead team reviews of technical requirements, design and implementation plans prior to deployment
- Recommend and implement system enhancements that will improve the performance, reliability, and security of the system including installing, upgrading, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration
- Ensure systems are operated, maintained, and disposed of in accordance with internal security policies and practices outlined in the security plan
- Provide analysis, design, development, implementation and security assessments to ensure compliance with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication (SP) 800-53, CNSSI 1253, and DoD RMF Knowledge Service guidance.
- Serve as a Cyber Security engineer (ISSE) supporting high-level technical and practical expertise
- Apply Cyber Security technologies, including COMSEC, COMPUSEC, EMSEC, and OPSEC, computer systems, digital communications systems, network protocols, computer architectures, and computer security penetration tools and techniques
- Apply analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of Cyber Security implementation
- Support the continuous assessment of IA Control compliance for the program
- Creates milestones, metrics and monitors adherence to software plans and schedules, identifies problems and obtains solutions, such as allocation of resources or adapting to changing contractual specifications.
- Leads the documentation contributions of others assigned to the program from technical, support, and administrative areas
Basic Qualifications for a Staff Cyber Systems Engineer:
- Active DoD Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain SCI access or active SCI access
- 14 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in STEM; 12 years of relevant experience with a Masters' degree; 9 years of relevant experience with a PhD
- Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills necessary to support known Information Systems Security Engineering type activities/challenges working with engineering teams, management, customers, partners and government
- Demonstrated experience in cyber security and integration & test
- Experience leading a team of 10+ people
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a Systems Engineering role with responsibilities in the planning, designing, implementation, testing, and delivery of a system with Cyber/Information Assurance requirements and testing of cybersecurity controls.
- Experience in a Systems Engineering role during the successful execution of the Risk Management Framework for the initialization of a new system asset in Xacta or SNOW
- Experience with Agile development
- One or more certifications from the following:
- ISC 2 Certified Authorization Professional (CAP)
- CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+)
- ISACA Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
- ISC 2 Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- GIAC Security Leadership (GSLC)
- EC-Council Certified Chief Information Security Officer (CCISO)
Salary Range: $181,400.00 - $272,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
