Staff Backend Engineer – Tel Aviv (Hybrid)We’re seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to expand and harden the core of Axiom’s platform. You’ll work at the intersection of identity, security, and infrastructure, designing and delivering features that directly impact how Developers, Security, and Operational teams control access at scale.
This is a hybrid role based in Tel Aviv, where you’ll collaborate closely with engineering, product, and design to take features from concept to production quickly, securely, and at scale.
What you’ll be doing
- Design, develop, and optimize backend services that are performant, secure, and resilient
- Own end-to-end delivery of features: from design to deployment to monitoring
- Architect microservices and event-driven workflows in Go and AWS
- Collaborate across teams to transform ideas into production-ready systems
- Continuously improve scalability, reliability, and developer experience
- Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering culture through reviews and discussions
What you’ll bring to the role
- 6+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years in cloud-native environments
- Expertise in backend systems, distributed architecture, and microservices
- Hands-on experience with Go (or strong background in a similar language, with eagerness to pick up Go)
- Familiarity with AWS (Lambda, SQS, IAM), Kubernetes, and CI/CD automation
- Strong understanding of security principles and building resilient systems
- High ownership mindset, bias for action, and ability to thrive in complex problem spaces
- Growth-oriented, passionate about feedback, and committed to becoming the best version of yourself
And extra credit if you have experience in any of the following!
- Experience with IAM, access control, or security-first products
- Background with Graph databases or policy engines
- Startup experience building infrastructure at scale
- Open-source contributions or technical writing
- Language: Go
- Infra: AWS, Serverless, Kubernetes
- Data: Postgres (RDS), ArangoDB (NoSQL)
- DevOps: GitHub Actions, Docker, Terraform, Helm
