Staff Backend Engineer

What you'll do:

• Design and architect scalable backend systems that drive high-performance user experiences across our flagship platforms.
• Build and maintain robust APIs and backend services with a focus on reliability, security, and developer usability.
• Develop complex server-side logic to integrate blockchain technologies and handle high-throughput data flows and transactions.
• Implement real-time monitoring and alerting systems, proactively identifying performance bottlenecks and areas for optimization.
• Lead backend efforts across the entire development lifecycle—from planning and design to deployment and iteration.
• Collaborate with frontend, mobile, and product teams to deliver end-to-end solutions that are both performant and delightful to use.
• Oversee database design, management, and optimization across multiple systems and services.
• Document system architecture, APIs, and processes for both internal and external development stakeholders.
• Ensure secure and efficient handling of user data and interactions.
• Contribute to technical strategy and mentor junior team members as a go-to backend expert.

About you:

• 6+ years of backend engineering experience, ideally with Go (Golang) or similar performant backend languages.
• Proven ability to design and implement scalable, production-grade systems in a cloud-native environment.
• Deep understanding of API architecture, distributed systems, and database technologies (SQL and NoSQL).
• Comfortable leading backend projects from concept to deployment.
• Strong advocate for clean code, testing, documentation, and best practices in version control (Git).
• Experience working in Agile, cross-functional teams, delivering iteratively while maintaining a long-term vision.
• A problem-solver at heart, excited by technical challenges and driven by delivering impact at scale.
• Passion for blockchain technology, gaming, and redefining digital ownership.

Bonus points if you have the following:

• Experience architecting and deploying cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or similar).
• Background in blockchain technologies, smart contract integration, or NFTs.
• Built backend tooling that enhanced developer workflows or platform efficiency.
• Contributed to open-source backend frameworks or libraries.
