What Is the Opportunity?
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineer to join our dynamic team working on Horizon 8, a leading virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solution. As a Staff Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development, and enhancement of critical components within the Horizon 8 platform. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers and drive the success of our product.

About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Back-End Developer with 8-10 years of expertise in Platform and Infrastructure, Java, Spring, Kubernetes, API design, software architecture, cloud design patterns, and related technologies. As a key member of our team, you will lead the architectural design and implementation of key features and functionalities in Horizon 8, using clean, tested code to build scalable, user-centric applications. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate ability to design, package, and deploy software platforms (including OVA‑based VM artifacts, Nutanix‑based environments, and containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes). Proficient in debugging distributed systems, configuring load balancers, and working with core networking and storage subsystems.
- Lead the architectural design and implementation of key features and functionalities using clean and tested code.
- Implement and improve processes around Kubernetes and CI/CD tools.
- Develop applications using microservices and cloud design patterns.
- Design RESTful APIs, including versioning, backward compatibility, authentication, and high availability.
- Collaborate with developers and customer support teams to resolve issues, reproduce bugs, and perform root cause analyses (RCCAs).
- Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure adherence to best practices (e.g., style guidelines, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
- Contribute to documentation and educational content, adapting it based on product updates and user feedback.
- Triage product or system issues and debug/resolve them by analyzing root causes and their impact on service operations and quality.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers, offering guidance on technical challenges and fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
- You will have to collaboratively work across other product and component teams.
- You will have to be a subject matter expert with deep expertise in the key components of our data pipeline and platform.
- You will have to handle the interactions with product management, cross-functional teams I, and other groups, internal and external to Omnissa, to define and deliver the required solutions.
- You will have to participate in all phases of software development including requirements, design, coding, testing, debugging, and performance tuning
Required Skills and Qualifications
- 8-10 years of professional experience in back-end development, with expertise in Java.
- Strong AI & data skills, including machine learning, prompt engineering, and LLM‑based tooling.
- At least 6 years of experience in software design and architecture.
- Proficient in Spring Boot, Kubernetes, RESTful API design, software architecture, and cloud design patterns.
- Strong understanding of Kubernetes internals, cluster management, and Linux.
- Solid grasp of web performance optimization and responsive design principles.
- Proficient in version control tools such as Git.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Cross‑platform Infrastructure Engineering – OVA / VM packaging, Nutanix, Docker, Kubernetes, networking, storage, and debugging.
