Job Summary
Provides legal counsel to the corporation to: protect its rights, assets, and operations, and conduct its government and commercial business activities in compliance with applicable laws, Executive Orders, and policies. Assists with the resolution of complicated legal matters. Conducts research regarding legal aspects of business and corporate activities and maintains awareness of potential risks and obligations. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Work Model
This is a full-time position located in El Segundo, CA, Chantilly, VA or Crystal City, VA, which requires 100% onsite work.
What You'll Be Doing
- Provides legal advice relating to corporate business transactions and matters pertaining to commercial, government, and international transactions.
- Perform intake, review, and resolution of compliance matters, including management of the workflow process and follow-up.
- Manages the ethics and compliance practice, including training and management of the annual corporate employee ethics certification process.
- Provide ethics advice to Aerospace managers and leadership consistent with federal law and policy.
- Draft and refine company policies related to: federally funded research and development centers, 501(c) (3) non-profits entities, national security activities, space-domain matters, privacy, big data analytics, security/cyber security, and generative AI.
- Work with hiring managers to assess conflicts and federal revolving door issues relating to the hiring of former government employees.
- Support transactional work and assist in advising various contracting and procurement functions.
- Research and analyze case and statutory law on relevant issues.
- Identify legal issues that may impact company activities.
- Provide counsel on specific inquiries relating to: new business, corporate activities, employment matters, litigation, and on government regulations, policies, and the permissible activities of nonprofit organizations and Federally Funded Research and Development Centers.
- Conduct fact-finding investigations involving potential litigation and allegations of improper conduct.
- Provide advice and counsel regarding matters related privacy, cybersecurity, and government contracts.
- Supports the management of the corporate confidentiality process including drafting, negotiating, and executing third party Nondisclosure Agreements (NDAs), interpreting confidentiality terms and conditions in contracts and other agreements.
- Conducts conflict of interest reviews of employee outside business activities and financial interests, new corporate business, and military or civilian government employment applications. Advises on organizational conflict of interest issues and matters relating to engagements with third parties. Develops and implements mitigation plans as necessary. Utilize strong writing, communication, and people skills.
- Develops training programs and works with other corporate organizations to train the workforce on relevant legal matters such as harassment and discrimination, ethics, anti-corruption, nondisclosure and confidentiality, and intellectual property.
What You Need to be Successful - Staff Attorney
Minimum Requirements:
- Six or more years of relevant experience
- Juris Doctorate degree
- Member in good standing of at least one U.S. Bar, preferably including California, Virginia and/or the District of Columbia
- Experience in one or more of the various practice areas such as: ethics and conflicts of interest, compliance, national security, general corporate, nonprofit organizations.
- This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
