The Staff Attorney provides legal and regulatory guidance to CME Securities Clearing (CMESC) and CME Clearing. The attorney will report directly to CMESC's Head of Legal and is expected to play a lead role in managing the regulatory aspects of securities clearing initiatives. The attorney will also work on matters for CME Clearing, gaining broad exposure to the legal and regulatory aspects of the CME Group's clearing business.
Principal Accountabilities:
For CMESC generally:
Drafting template agreements for participants (e.g., MRAs, transaction submission agreements, connection agreements, service agreements, required attestations)
Drafting template agreements for CMESC service providers (e.g., connection agreements, service and vendor agreements, agreements, custody and settlement banking agreements, clearing bank agreements)
Implementing and supporting CMESC’s governance framework
Advising the clearing house on creation of policies for risk, ops, settlement, default management and other core areas throughout the design and implementation phases
Drafting and submitting rule filings under guidance of senior attorneys
For CME Clearing generally:
Advising the clearing house on planned initiatives (e.g., CMESC/CME cross-margining, agency omnibus clearing, expanding FICC/CME cross margin, tokenized collateral)
Support and implement 24/7 clearing of futures and options
Creation of an OCC regulated trust company to offer stablecoin Day-to-day rule filings
Support for Title VIII exam
Review of new rules and drafting of comment letters
Review of credit facility documents in renewal
