We are seeking a Staff Assistant for our Financial Aid department who will report to the Director of Financial Aid. This person will be responsible for assisting students in the student financial aid process and assists in the general functions of the Financial Aid Office and the Enrollment Services division.
Example of Duties:
- Be responsible for front counter customer service with primary knowledge of the College's Financial Aid Programs.
- Monitor Financial Aid files for accuracy and completeness and initiate appropriate action to correct and adjust inconsistencies and/or problems.
- Be knowledgeable about the general functions of other student support services, including but not limited to, student admissions, registration, payment, and advisement.
- Respond to walk-in, telephone and email requests for information and service.
- Appropriately inform and refer students to other services on campus in a prompt, cordial and professional manner.
- Ensure that information communicated to students is accurate, thorough and in a professional manner to ensure student needs are fully addressed.
- Comply with all Passaic County Community College, state and federal regulations regarding the access and release of data and information.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Exhibit extraordinary customer service required.
- Ability to work well with diverse student population and communicate effectively orally and in writing required.
- Demonstrated ability to perform detailed work in an accurate manner.
- Computer literacy and date processing experience required.
- Knowledge of Federal and State financial aid regulations preferred.
The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.
Compensation: Salary is determined by a variety of criteria, including but not limited to, previous relevant experience, education level, and certifications. The starting salary for this position is $40,000.
