As a Customer Staff Application Engineer for Renesas Performance Computing Power Application engineering team, you will be a senior technical contributor and decision maker in new power management applications in the infrastructure server/AI server market. You will engage cross functionally with a diverse team including marketing, software engineering, IC design, and other applications engineering teams to deliver the most innovative power solutions in the server computing market.

Products include high-performance digital power VRMs, multiphase controllers, Smart Power Stages (SPS), Vertical Power Stages (SPS with integrated capacitors and multiple silicon die), Power Towers (power modules integrating multiple SPS-equivalents with capacitors and inductors), and power MOSFETs.
Job DescriptionThis senior role provides broad system level solution insight and support. A broad comprehension of DC/DC power conversion is required including familiarity with digital multiphase PWM controllers. Key responsibilities include:
- Travel to customer sites to debug and validate digital multiphase products. Interaction with customers to solve complex problems.
- Support marketing efforts by providing detailed solutions matching customer detailed requirements.
- Support development efforts by contributing to system validation of new controllers, VPS and SPS products. Work with designers to ensure design teams have the detailed information needed to execute and verify designs.
- Develop collateral such as datasheets, performance reports, and application notes to support customer engagement.
- Support training of other AE’s and FAE’s to enable broad support and knowledge of the products.
Education:
- A BS degree in engineering (EE – power electronics preferred), with MS degree preferred.
Experience & Skills:
- Must have minimum of 10 years experience in the power management industry.
- Must Have experience with firmware-enabled products and powering large scale application- specific integrated circuit (Central processing unit /Graphics processing unit etc.) in the data center market is required.
- Experience with multiphase DC/DC converters powering Intel/AMD/SoC systems.
- Mixed-signal Integrated Circuit/System knowledge/experience.
- Experience with digitally enabled power management products.
- Understanding of control loop theory and its application in power converters.
- Proficiency with a full complement of lab equipment including network. analyzers, oscilloscopes and waveform generators.
- Experience with automation of lab testing.
- Ability to travel to customer sites in Asia and the US.
