Position Overview:
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for supporting various aspects of Beam’s accounting processes and day-to-day accounting operations. This role will work cross-functionally with teams including Research, Development, Operations, Legal, and IT to help ensure the Company’s activities are appropriately reflected in the financial statements. The Staff Accountant will assist with month-end close activities, account reconciliations, journal entries, and other accounting functions while supporting the accounting team as the Company continues to scale and enhance its commercial operations.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaid expenses, reclasses, and other recurring entries.
- Perform monthly account reconciliations and investigate and resolve reconciling items.
- Maintain supporting schedules for balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Assist with monthly and year-end close activities.
- Provide support for annual financial statement audits and periodic reviews, including Sarbanes-Oxley control reviews.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to obtain information needed to estimate monthly accruals.
- Assist with documenting accounting processes and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
- Ad hoc analysis and other special projects as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 2+ years of accounting experience.
- Previous public accounting experience preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and collaborative skills.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels in the organization.
- Experience with Netsuite, SAP, Coupa and Blackline a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and process orientated.
The salary range below reflects the full-time base salary range we expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. Base pay will be determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, education, scope of job, internal comparisons, and market data.
