Position Summary: The Corporate Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the organization's accounting and financial reporting functions by maintaining accurate financial records, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and assisting with month-end and year-end close processes.

Essential Tasks:
- Assist in the month- end, quarter-end, and year-end close process by preparing and posting journal entries
- Ensure all close activities are completed within the established close calendar and escalate obstacles proactively.
- Prepare, own, and maintain monthly reconciliations for a broad portfolio of balance sheet accounts
- Investigate and resolve all reconciling items within established timeframes; document root causes and remediation steps for every variance identified.
- Utilize FloQast as a reconciliation and checklist platform
- Assist in accounting for new acquisitions
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger through accurate and timely posting of transactions in the agency management system (Applied Epic) and accounting software (Sage Intacct)
- Support the development and maintenance of internal controls and accounting procedures.
- Support annual financial statement audits and other compliance-related audits.
- Establish and maintain formal written policies and procedures for business processes, as needed within assigned workflows
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proven ability to think strategically, plan effectively and promote a team environment
- Ability to analyze financial information
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
- Organized and detail oriented
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, etc.
- Understanding of and experience working in cloud-based accounting systems. Experience with Sage Intacct is a plus.
- Experience working with AI is a plus.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment

Experience and Education:
- 2+ years previous accounting experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or similar discipline
- Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Experience working with ERP systems and accounting software
Licensing and Credentials:
- CPA Preferred
Systems:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Understanding of and experience working in cloud-based accounting systems. Experience with Sage Intacct is a plus
