The Staff Accountant provides a high degree of accounting support and the staff accountant provides accounting support and performs a variety of accounting tasks of entry-level to moderate complexity for both the month-end close and agency bill accounting teams. The candidate will provide a unique opportunity to be exposed to full cycle accounting at a large public company.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reconciles, adjusts, and maintains balance sheet accounts

  • Prepares monthly recurring journal entries

  • Assists with month-end close and ad hoc requests

  • Ability to research and troubleshoot

  • Brings issues and discrepancies to appropriate leader, while identifying potential solutions

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot tables, Xlookups, and keyboard shortcuts

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to be able to interact effectively with various levels of colleagues both inside and outside the accounting organization.

  • Must possess excellent organizational skills

  • Exhibits professional skepticism

  • Must demonstrate the organization’s core values, exuding behavior aligned with the firm’s culture.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • A four-year degree in Accounting required

  • 1-2 years’ in corporate accounting or auditing required, or relevant internship(s) if a recent Accounting graduate.

  • Working knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • CPA track is a plus, but not required.

OTHER:
Fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
Must be able to interact effectively with various levels of management both inside and outside the organization.
