POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for supporting the Finance and Administration Manager in executing daily, weekly, and monthly accounting operations across the organization. The Staff Accountant will maintain the general ledger, assist with financial reporting, and contribute to month-end and year-end close processes. This role serves as a key contributor to the accuracy and integrity of financial records at Valence Surface Technologies. The position offers the opportunity to gain exposure across multiple areas of the business while working closely with a lean accounting team.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Perform general ledger maintenance including preparation and posting of journal entries
  • Assist with monthly and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations and variance analysis
  • Support preparation of monthly financial statements and management reporting packages
  • Monitor and review accounting records to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and GAAP
  • Apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to ensure all financial transactions and reporting meet applicable standards
  • Prepare and record accruals, adjustments, and other month-end and year-end entries in accordance with GAAP and internal close schedules
  • Collaborate with the retained accounting firm to support timely and clean annual audits
  • Maintain organized and detailed records documenting financial transactions in accordance with internal controls
  • Assist with sales tax filings and other regulatory compliance activities
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and contribute to the development of more efficient procedures
  • Support Finance and Administration Manager with ad hoc analysis and special projects as needed
  • Split time between Everett and Seattle locations as required to support accounting operations across both sites
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required


Experience:

0–2 years of accounting experience; recent graduates with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance are encouraged to apply. Internship, co-op, or relevant coursework experience accepted. Manufacturing or public accounting exposure a plus.


Computer Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced); experience with ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, or similar) preferred


Other Requirements:

Must meet ITAR eligibility requirements prior to employment. Familiarity with AS 9100 / ISO 9001 quality management environments a plus
