We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to support the financial operations of our captive insurance programs. This role is ideal for someone with strong accounting fundamentals who is looking to build experience in a specialized insurance environment. You will work closely with the Captive Manager, finance teams, auditors, and third-party administrators to ensure accurate reporting and compliant financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and month‑end close activities for multiple captive insurance entities.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, schedules, and statutory filings.
- Process Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and cash transactions for premiums, claims, and operating expenses.
- Support the administration of policy billing, premium receivables, and claim funding.
- Reconcile bank accounts, trust accounts, and custodial funds.
- Monitor claim payments and coordinate with third‑party administrators to ensure accuracy.
- Assist with annual audits, actuarial reviews, tax filings, and regulatory reporting.
- Maintain documentation, internal controls, and compliance with domicile requirements.
- Prepare ad-hoc reports and support process improvements as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1–3 years of accounting experience (insurance experience preferred)
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles
- Proficiency with Excel and accounting/ERP systems
- High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
Preferred:
- Experience with captive insurance, risk financing, or insurance accounting
- NetSuite, Power BI, or Workday experience
- Knowledge of statutory accounting principles (SAP)

Pay Details:
The base compensation range for this position is $50,000 - $65,000. This range reflects Acrisure's good faith estimate at the time of this posting. Placement within the range will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, location, and internal equity.Candidates should be comfortable with an on-site presence to support collaboration, team leadership, and cross-functional partnership.
