We are seeking a Staff Accountant to support our team at Tarkett Sports Construction Central, a trusted partner in design-build and sports construction. They support big ideas from start to finish, delivering concept, construction, and ongoing care for track, field and courts. The Staff Accountant will Supports operations by managing daily accounting tasks, job cost tracking, and assisting with month-end close. 

You will be working from Lee’s Summit, MO office, and reporting to the Controller.

What you’ll do:

  • Process vendor and sub‑partner invoices; maintain accurate vendor records (W9, COI).
  • Reconcile accounts, vendor statements, and monthly credit card transactions.
  • Maintain general ledger and support job cost allocation, WIP reporting, and financial close.
  • Partner with project managers to resolve billing and cost discrepancies.
  • Research and resolve invoice/payment issues; verify federal ID numbers and purchase orders.
  • Identify discount opportunities; manage purchase order amendments and stop‑payment orders.
  • Ensure timely vendor payments and accurate accounting records.

What you need for success:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in construction or engineering accounting preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Proficient in accounting software (e.g. Foundation) or similar software.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work across multiple management levels and departments to ensure timely task completion.
  • Independence: Self-directed and capable of handling multiple projects with minimal supervision.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
