About the role

The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting key accounting functions. This role handles general ledger activity, journal entries, account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and assists in the monthly and year-end close processes. The Staff Accountant also contributes to the preparation of budgets, financial forecasts, and audit support. 

What you’ll do
  • Prepare and maintain financial records and reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards. 
  • Maintain the accounts payable function, including onboarding vendors, processing invoices and payments, and reconciling AP aging.  
  • Maintain and reconcile accounts receivable records. 
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and account analyses. 
  • Post journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts. 
  • Assist in month-end and year-end close processes. 
  • Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts. 
  • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and information as requested. 
What we’re looking for
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 
  • Possesses 1–3 years of hands-on accounting experience, demonstrating a solid foundation in financial reporting, reconciliations, etc. 
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial principles. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to create and manage spreadsheets, perform data analysis, and utilize advanced functions and formulas. 
  • PC skills including working knowledge of the Microsoft environment and the ability to access, manipulate, organize and relay information in a meaningful way.  
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills to effectively partner with leaders across multiple functions 
  • Ability to work in a high-growth, dynamic environment. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • CPA or working toward CPA certification is a plus. 
  • Proficient in accounting software & systems (i.e., NetSuite, Tipalti).

Target base compensation is $90k-$100k annually. Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location. Additionally, Unlock’s Total Rewards package is highly competitive, designed to support your success at work, at home, and at play – such as 401K matching, health benefits, employee stock options and paid time off.
