This position is based at our corporate office in Phoenix, AZ, and follows a hybrid work schedule. Remote work is not available for this role. Candidates must reside within commuting distance, as relocation assistance is not provided. Additionally, applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored visa support.
Job Overview:
The Staff Accountant plays a key role in supporting Leslie’s financial close and reporting processes by preparing journal entries, performing balance sheet reconciliations, and conducting financial analysis. This position partners closely with FP&A, Treasury, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and operating teams to resolve accounting matters and ensure accurate financial reporting. The role also supports internal and external audit activities.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare weekly and monthly journal entries, including cash transactions, accruals, and reclassifications.
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations in accordance with Company policy and internal control standards.
- Analyze expenses across multiple accounts and provide variance explanations to budget and forecast.
- Prepare financial reporting schedules for internal management reporting and external reporting requirements.
- Research and resolve accounting issues by analyzing and interpreting financial data.
- Support quarterly reviews and annual audits by preparing schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and assist with implementation.
- Document accounting procedures and cross-train to provide team coverage as needed.
- Assist with ad hoc reporting and special projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Progress toward CPA certification preferred.
- 1–3 years of accounting or finance experience with general ledger responsibilities.
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal control frameworks.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Intermediate Excel skills required; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, OneNote).
- Experience with general ledger systems preferred.
