The Staff Accountant is responsible for providing accounting support in the preparation of financial statements, general ledger analysis, and accounts receivable/payable activities. Additionally, this position will assist the Controllers with other accounting functions as assigned.

Responsibilities:
- Performs daily banking activities and monthly bank reconciliations across multiple companies and accounts
- Performs daily accounts receivable tasks including billing customers, paying vendors, and reconciling bank statements
- Manages the mortgage database, which includes entering new mortgages, posting payments, processing ACH drafts, recording payoffs, and communicating with residents
- Performs and reviews account reconciliations for general ledger accounts on an established routine basis
- Assists Controllers with accounting functions as assigned
- Assists other Accounting staff with monthly sales tax reporting and payroll reconciliations as needed
- Stays current with all accounting developments and trends
- Ensures the confidentiality and security of all financial files
- Performs all duties in adherence to OTOW standards
- Strives to maintain a safe working environment through the prevention of accidents, the preservation of equipment, and the achievement of safe working practices
- Maintains a positive and professional demeanor toward all residents, visitors and co-workers
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field required (4+ years of accounting experience can be substituted for required degree)
- 3+ years of accounting experience required
- Accounting software experience required, Timberline Accounting, Newstar, Loan Ledger, and Jenark experience preferred
Certifications or Licenses
- Certifications: CPA preferred
- A valid Florida Drivers License with acceptable driving history is required
Skills and Knowledge:
- Must be able to read, write and understand English and have good verbal and written communication skills
- PC proficiency is essential (Windows environment) and working knowledge of construction/accounting software programs is preferred.
- Microsoft Office skills required
- Proven professional skills and/or knowledge in accounting
- Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret general business and professional procedures and governmental regulations
- Must be able to understand general accounting principles and apply them on a day-to-day basis
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
- Ability to write business correspondence and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information to management, customers, and staff
- Well organized, be efficient and ability to multi-task
