Job Summary
We are looking for a Staff Accountant to oversee general accounting operations for our company. Staff accountant responsibilities include reconciling account balances, bank statements, maintaining the fixed asset module and assisting in month-end close procedures. This role requires analytical skills, knowledge of accounting principles and attention to detail necessary to ensure accurate reporting in all areas.
Essential Functions
- Prepare journal entries on a daily and monthly basis, ensuring accurate account balances.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
- Enter, dispose, and inventory in the fixed assets module.
- Prepare and submit annual tangible tax returns for all reporting entities.
- Perform month end accounting duties in accordance with closing schedule.
- Assist in maintaining and updating accounting policies and procedures.
- Analyze and communicate general ledger and other financial variances.
- Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results.
- Understand internal control procedures and regulations.
- Prepare quarterly schedules and external and internal audit requests.
- Assist with special projects as needed.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business required.
- 2 to 3 years of accounting or finance experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

- Ability to perform consistent work to the highest of standards
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures and internal control procedures and regulations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including strong Excel skills.
- Knowledge of accounting software required, Oracle based JD Edwards General Ledger System and Quickbooks preferred.
