Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

Responsible for performing a variety of general accounting functions for BSMH in accordance with general policies and procedures of the Accounting Department.

Essential Job Functions

  • Maintains general ledger accounts in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and BSMH policy and researches exceptions

  • Creates and uploads monthly journal entries

  • Prepares assigned monthly journal entries and schedules in preparation for monthly closing for the following areas: Accruals, Non-Acute accounts receivable, PP&E

  • Prepares monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts like: patient accounting, cash and inventory

  • Reconciles assigned system interfaces to general ledger posting for all assigned areas

  • Prepares data necessary to prepare the monthly financial statements for all assigned areas

  • Prepares month-end reports for distribution to all internal and external parties for all assigned areas

  • Provides to all departments: Financial reports, Support documentation, and assistance in understanding the financial operations of their assigned areas

  • Compiles monthly statistical information

  • Prepares assigned schedules for the annual audit

  • Reviews and interfaces with GL expense information submitted with P Cards / T Cards

  • Executes system-level entries across hospital markets

  • Maintains petty cash process, including assignment of local custodians and maintenance of the master petty cash log

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or comparable discipline (required)

1 year of experience in a general accounting function (preferred)
