The Staff Accountant I supports the Shared Service Accounting Department in various tasks related to the accounting process including, entering customer refunds, preparing monthly journal entries, complying with monthly internal SOX controls, and other accounting functions to assist with the monthly close process.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation of monthly accounting journal entries
- Assist with the preparation of various balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare and enter customer refunds submitted by the stations
- Review station balance sheet reconciliations monthly
- Review and or analyze general ledger accounts
- Prepare quarterly / annual schedules for the external auditors
- Various ad hoc accounting projects as assigned
- Perform certain other functions as needed
Requirements & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
- Fluency in English.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (Vlookups, Pivot Tables, Etc)
- Proficiency in Accounting Software (Great Plains, Quickbooks, Microsoft D365 F&O)
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
The Staff Accountant I must be able to sit, reach, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. In addition, the Staff Accountant I must be able to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls. Repetitive movements are required.
