Work Location: GSFC with some telework flexibility
Schedule: 40 hours/week with flexibility as needed
OverviewKBR is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to support the NASA Davinci Ground System Manager (GSM) within the Space Science Mission Operations (SSMO) Directorate. This internship offers the opportunity to work directly with NASA engineering leadership on software tool evaluations, prototyping, and mission‑supporting ground system capabilities.Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the NASA Davinci Ground System Manager on a Software Tool Trade Study and Prototyping effort.
  • Evaluate candidate tools for capabilities such as:
  • Telemetry visualization (e.g., OpenMCT vs. AMMOS)
  • Data processing pipeline frameworks
  • PDS4 archive tooling
  • Interview developers and operators to gather functional and operational requirements.
  • Conduct hands‑on prototyping of 2–3 candidate tools.
  • Produce a trade study report including:
  • Scored evaluations
  • Working prototypes
  • Build‑vs‑buy recommendations
  • Explore new tools and technologies with guidance from project leads.
What We’re Looking ForInterns are not expected to be experts, but should have a strong willingness to learn, experiment, and engage in hands‑on technical exploration.Required Education·Currently enrolled in an undergraduate technical degree program at an accredited university.Preferred Qualifications·Basic familiarity with virtual environments and cloud‑based technologies.·Exposure to Linux and programming languages such as Java, Python, or Perl.·General familiarity with software development concepts and workflows.Compensation

$22.88/hr  – $34.28/hr
Final rate determined by location, qualifications, and schedule. Hourly pay will be adjusted for part-time or full-time availability.
