Overview
The Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) Combat Systems Subject Matter Expert (SME) supports Commander, Naval Surface Forces, Pacific Fleet (CNSP) as part of the Readiness Assistance Training Team (RATT). The RATT provides direct, Sailor-centric training and technical assistance to surface ships to improve technical proficiency, material condition, organic capability, and overall readiness.
The SSDS Combat Systems SME provides expert-level technical guidance and hands-on support for SSDS and associated shipboard combat systems. Working directly with shipboard personnel, the SME helps strengthen technical knowledge, troubleshoot combat systems and interface issues, improve operations and maintenance practices, and enhance overall combat systems readiness.
Location
San Diego, CA, with extensive travel in support of shipboard RATT visits throughout CONUS and OCONUS locations
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 15 years of experience with the technical aspects of operating and maintaining the Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) Combat Systems suite
- SSDS experience comparable to that of an Electronics Material Officer (EMO) aboard ships equipped with SSDS
- Minimum 15 years of technical experience with the operation and maintenance of U.S. Navy network and communications systems, supporting systems, and interfaces with associated shipboard systems
- Direct operational and maintenance experience within the last five years with U.S. Navy electronic warfare and countermeasures systems currently employed in the Fleet, including:
- AN/SLQ-32 Electronic Warfare Suite
- AN/SLQ-25 NIXIE Torpedo Decoy System
- NULKA Active Missile Decoy System
- Mk 36 Super Rapid Bloom Offboard Countermeasures (SRBOC) and Decoy Launching System
- Minimum 15 years of experience operating and maintaining gunnery systems aboard warships or military auxiliaries
- Minimum 15 years of experience operating and maintaining stand-alone missile systems aboard warships
- Ability and willingness to support extensive CONUS and OCONUS travel for shipboard RATT visits
Security Clearance
- Must possess and maintain a SECRET clearance

Skills Required

- Ability and willingness to support extensive CONUS and OCONUS travel for shipboard RATT visits
- Must possess and maintain a Secret security clearance
