As the global leader in the semiconductor industry, Solidigm possesses many industry-leading SSD technologies including the most capable Quadruple Level Cell (QLC) NAND Flash products.
In this position you will join a fast-paced team developing new, cutting-edge firmware for Solidigm Solid State Drives (SSD). You will utilize and grow your experience in embedded architecture, external interfaces, and product constraints, along with the ability to develop architectures/features that meet these constraints while providing new value for the platform. You will use and gain experience in storage interface standards such as NVMe, PCIe, SATA, and SAS. The team utilizes Agile development methodologies, therefore, excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with team members, both locally and across the organization is required.
In this position, you will be working to architect, design, and implement integrated system solutions to manage the interactions between Solid State Drive (SSD) system hardware/software and NAND Flash memory components. This job requires you to develop and productize optimized system solutions for SSD product to meet performance and reliability requirements, utilizing formal education and engineering judgment.
Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Evaluate and characterize storage media component behavior within SSD systems
- Design and utilize simulation software that models SSD performance and behavior
- Lead media-system feature pathfinding efforts to maintain competitive edge on enterprise SSDs features roadmap
- Implement and characterize proof-of-concept firmware prototypes to evaluate competing algorithms for a given media issue
- Develop new media management system features through cross-function collaboration with component circuit design, ASIC design and SSD firmware architecture teams
- Deliver world-class SSD based on the strong pillars of performance/QoS (Quality of Service), reliability and cost
Qualifications
The below minimum qualifications must be met to be considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
Minimum Requirements:
- MS or PhD degree in Computer Engineering/Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields; or BS with 6 years+ of experience in embedded system development
- Strong software programming, debugging, and problem-solving skills
- Experience in computer architecture design and systems engineering
- Experience in embedded systems design and optimization
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively both independently and in a team across multiple sites
- Experience in NAND Flash or other memory technology
Preferred qualifications:
5+ years experience in the following areas:
- Storage industry (SSDs or enterprise storage)
- Embedded development techniques using hardware and firmware tools
- Structured software development and practices, analytical problem solving, innovation and a mindset of continuous improvement
- Enterprise storage interface protocols (e.g., SATA, SAS, PCIe, and NVMe)
- Experience in modeling complex systems using Transaction Level Modeling using System C or similar technology
- Experience with Solid State Drive or other embedded system firmware development using C/C++
Additional Information
For California, Colorado, New York, Washington, and remote roles: The compensation range for this role is $139,480 - $225,610. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
