The RoleThe SRE role is essential to Vapi’s success because it ensures our real-time distributed systems remain robust, scalable, and reliable, enabling us to effectively bridge decades-old telecommunications infrastructure with modern AI models. Your work directly impacts our ability to meet increasing market demand and provide seamless voice AI experiences to users worldwide.
OutcomesParticipate in an on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 availability and rapid incident response.
Ensure 99.99% system uptime and reliability for our real-time distributed infrastructure.
Automate infrastructure management, reducing deployment and recovery times significantly.
Optimize real-time system performance, enabling seamless integration with AI models.
Establish robust incident response protocols, minimizing downtime and impact of production issues.
Build infrastructure and processes that scale effectively with rapid company growth.
Technical Skills: Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, AWS/GCP/Azure, Python/Go/Bash
Communication: Clearly articulates complex system status and issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Cracked-ness: Exceptionally adept at troubleshooting and resolving complex infrastructure issues.
Organization: Builds and maintains scalable, reliable systems that stand the test of time.
Startup Ready: Comfortable with uncertainty and ready to proactively tackle new challenges.
Founder Juice: Generates impactful ideas, takes initiative, and ensures tasks get completed effectively.
Proven experience with distributed systems, real-time infrastructure, and infrastructure-as-code.
Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (Python, Go, Bash).
Familiarity with observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack.
Self-starter: You proactively identify and execute the highest-value tasks.
Bonus: Previous experience as a technical founder in a B2B SaaS company or telecom background.
